What is Senior Living?
There are five different levels (exact number depends on how you define and count them) of senior care and accommodation services available to people as they age and begin to require a range of help with daily living. Senior Living sits in the middle of that range, and is often the best solution for those people who no longer can or wish to live on their own, but do not need the intensive care environment of a 24-hour Skilled Nursing Facility.
Most Senior Living residents wish to maintain as much independence as possible, while still having the sense of security that is provided by a trained, caring staff. Most Senior Living communities provide congregate living with private apartment-style rooms in a variety of sizes and layouts, and common spaces for socialization, meals and activities. The designs of Senior Living communities vary, but generally strive for a homelike, comfortable environment.
The average Senior Living resident obtains assistance with two activities of daily living (ADLs). One of the most common areas of ADL assistance is medication management. The combination of having a high degree of personal freedom in a warm, communal environment – while also receiving caring, professional help with critical ADLs – provides a sense of well-being for not only the resident, but also for family members, whether they live nearby or across the country.
Our Senior Living
At River Valley Estates, we believe that the key to a fulfilling life is having the opportunity to make as many positive personal choices as possible. We offer all of our residents the chance to work with our staff, their own families, and medical providers to design a personalized service plan to meet their unique needs and interests. Most of our life enrichment activities are integrated with the larger community, to encourage residents to develop a strong connection with their fellow residents, as well as a sense of purpose, accomplishment, and value.
