Daniel is committed to providing residents with a safe, loving, joyful haven to call home. Through his leadership style and commitment to excellence, he creates a culture that promotes personal and professional growth, mutual respect, service and perseverance among team members.

The Yuma native has been serving seniors since he was 17-years-old, first as an assistant caregiver. He later served in a variety of positions in the senior healthcare and housing industries, including executive director, patient navigator and hospice care consultant. “Working with seniors has been a staple in my career, and I love the stories and memories I have gained along the way,” he said.

A highly active member of the Yuma community, he serves on the Helping Hands of Yuma board of directors and is a member of Arizona Caregiver Coalition. For nine years, he served as the co-chair and president of the Yuma County Elder Abuse Coalition. He has a master’s degree in business administration and dual bachelor’s degrees in human services and business management from the University of Phoenix.

In his free time, Daniel enjoys traveling to new places and spending time with friends and family.

Selene Barajas

Administrative Assistant

Selene brings exceptional organizational skills, administrative expertise, and problem-solving skills to her position as administrative assistant. She serves residents, their families, and her fellow team members by performing clerical job duties, processing payroll, maintaining team member/resident records, and providing assistance as needed. Before joining River Valley Estates, she worked as a business office manager at an assisted living community for five years.

Selene earned an associate’s degree in administration of justice studies from Arizona Western College. The Yuma native has two children and enjoys going to the movies and spending time with her family.

Mary Ingham

Mary Ingham

Wellness Director

Mary joins River Valley Estates with more than a decade of senior care experience working in skilled nursing and hospice. She is committed to providing compassionate, individualized quality care to residents and creating a rewarding work environment for her team. Transparency, she said, is the foundation for building healthy, trusting relationships with residents, families and team members.

Mary earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in history from the University of Arizona, and an associates degree in nursing from Arizona Western College.

Married to a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, Mary has two children and one cat. In her spare time, she attends barre classes and participates in a monthly Bunco group. Mary also enjoys arts and crafts, reading, and camping with her family.

Wendy Scott

Wendy Scott

Director of Life Enrichment

“I’ve always believed Mahatma Gandhi’s quote, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others,” explains Wendy.

Wendy’s journey in service began 20 years ago as a certified nursing assistant. She has worked in long-term care facilities, group and individual homes, assisted living communities and hospice ever since. “Caring for people is what I love and what I do.”

Wendy’s path in service continues at River Valley Estates, where she creates opportunities for residents to live and thrive, regardless of their age or abilities. Her goal is to engage each resident and involve them in community activities and programs.

Wendy attended Edison Community College and Beaver County Vocational School. She is a charter member of the Century Heights Community Garden and plans to attend Arizona Western College to further her education and career.

When she is not assisting her elderly neighbors, you’ll find Wendy walking her dogs, spending time with her fiancé, friends, and family, and reading.

Patty Maldonado

Patty Maldonado

Director of Dining Services

Patty puts her heart and soul into her work, and when residents share how much they love the meals, it gives her great joy and satisfaction. Focusing on the nutritional and personal preferences of residents motivates her every day. With care and efficiency, she oversees dining services, orders supplies, cooks meals and prepares menus, and oversees the dietary department to ensure policies and state compliance.

Patty’s recipe for success is simplicity. By creating simple, yet delicious menus, the dining team consistently stays on track.

Patty is married with three children. In her free time, she enjoys baking with her children and going to the movies as a family.

Jesus Lopez

Director of Environmental Services

Jesus uses his 20 years of experience in maintenance, air conditioning service and installation, remodeling, landscaping, plumbing and painting to maintain a safe, beautiful and comfortable environment for residents and team members.

He’s engaged, has three children and three dogs. In his spare time, Jesus enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Blanca Montoya

Director of Sales & Marketing

Blanca’s leadership style encourages a healthy and positive work environment for team members. As a result, residents thrive and live a joyful, quality life in a loving and safe environment. Blanca has worked in the healthcare and hospice industries for more than eight years and she loves being an advocate for others. “I value interacting with our residents and their families, while also advocating for their well-being.”

Blanca’s genuine approach to interacting with residents, families and team members aligns with the organization’s mission of “Serving People, Caring People, Improving Lives.” She believes transparency is vital for leaders to establish and maintain a good rapport with residents, families and team members.

Blanca earned a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University, a bachelor’s degree in social work from Northern Arizona University, and an associate’s degree in applied sciences from Arizona Western College. She is an honorary member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society and a member of both the Social Work of Yuma County and National Association of Social Work (NASW).

In her free time, Blanca enjoys spending time with her fiancé and family, running and watching movies.

Ashlie’s passion for helping seniors plan for and build secure futures brought her to River Valley Estates. Having earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management, Ashlie uses her education and 5-plus years of marketing and customer service experience in senior living and healthcare to educate families and guide them through the transition of moving. Ashlie’s favorite MVP is Perseverance, “because no matter what happens in life, we must continue to move forward. We get up, dust ourselves off and put one foot in front of the other.”

In her spare time, Ashlie enjoys spending time with her sister and nieces. She has a dog that has grown with her for eleven years, and she likes playing golf when the weather is nice.
